Hafnarfjörður is seeking to hire an occupational therapist or a staff member with comparable qualifications for the role. This is a rewarding position within a home for people with disabilities, located in Völlunum. The work is carried out in accordance with the philosophy of Supported Guidance and Independent Living.
An exciting and enjoyable role with a variety of tasks on a shift pattern. The successful candidate must be able to work morning, evening and weekend shifts. We are seeking an employee for 40–80 hours per week. The successful candidate must be able to start work in August.
Key responsibilities and duties:
- Implements the role and objectives of the unit
- Performs the professional duties of the department under the direction of the head of department.
- Participates in training and professional support for the staff's daily work.
- Promote the effectiveness, welfare and well-being of the service user
- Providing residents with support with activities of daily living
- Have fun at work, be a role model for others and show initiative.
- Adhere to service plans and procedures
- Encourage residents to participate in the community and in leisure activities.
- General household chores
- Communication with various service providers
- Other tasks that a manager assigns to an employee
Competency requirements:
- Higher education in occupational therapy, social sciences or other relevant fields. A professional licence in the relevant field.
- Experience of similar work with disabled people is desirable.
- Collaboration and organisational skills
- Autonomy in work, initiative and conscientiousness
- Interest in the affairs of disabled people
- Icelandic proficiency A2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
- Service-mindedness and positivity at work
- Interpersonal skills
- Good computer skills
- Physical ability to carry out demanding tasks in the workplace
- Driving licence a condition
The condition is that the person has reached the age of 20 and has a clean criminal record.

Salary in accordance with the current collective agreement between the Federation of Icelandic Municipalities and the Hafnarfjörður Staff Association.
