A central decision has been made for the primary schools in Hafnarfjörður that primary school operations will resume in their usual format. Full teaching according to the timetable will begin in most year groups on Thursday, 7 January, or by Monday, 11 January at the latest in some schools. This also includes optional subjects and school sports lessons in sports halls and swimming pools for all pupils.  Each school will, or has already, informed parents/guardians when the changes will take effect for the relevant pupils.

Catering service back to normal

With this change, the catering service will return to normal, i.e. porridge in the morning and the usual catering service in the school canteen for all pupils. The requirement for pupils to wear face masks will be completely lifted. In most schools, after-school activities will move back from the classrooms of younger pupils to the after-school club, and the morning drop-off will follow the same arrangement as in the autumn. In some schools, however, it will still be necessary to continue using some classrooms.  Other activities that had to be moved due to the phasing will, in most cases, return to their original locations.  However, various restrictions will remain in place regarding school activities. For example, the rules on parental visits will remain unchanged; they are not permitted unless there is a specific need and parents have been invited to the school. Access for others who support the school's work is also restricted, and adults are required to wear a face covering according to certain guidelines.

The current public health regulations are in force until 28 February.
