The Cruise Challenge's journey around the workplace of Hafnarfjörður Municipality
The 'Skemmtiferðin' awareness and encouragement project kicked off with a fun skipping challenge at the beginning of April, which anyone interested has been able to take part in. The challenge of skipping and skipping with a rope has, among other things, travelled between the various workplaces of the City of Hafnarfjörður and has been a great delight to the staff, sparking a realisation about easy and simple exercise during working hours.

The Sippu band has been busy in recent weeks.
The journey began at the Hafnarfjörður Music School and has since then included, among other places, nurseries, primary schools and the town hall. The challenge ended with Geitungarnir, an innovation and employment training programme for disabled people run by the City of Hafnarfjörður, and it was there that the fun idea was born to produce and sell homemade wristbands. Geitungarnir are putting out all their feelers and are welcoming exciting projects and ideas that call for the group's skills.
Do you want to get yourself in shape for the summer?
The Wasps have already begun producing the good skipping rope and are offering them for sale for a small fee. Of course, the Wasps emphasise environmentally friendly production and use vitamin-rich stalks and old ropes in the manufacturing process. Children's and adult-sized skipping ropes can be purchased from the Wasps by visiting the Wasps' hive, the Wasps' shop, at 14 Suðurgata in Hafnarfjörður. The Wasp Farm is open every weekday from 8 am to 4 pm, but you can also contact the Wasps via email: thordisru@hafnarfjordur.is
Snorri and The Cruise received the Icelandic Public Health Award 2023
Snorri Már Snorrason, for his initiative The Fun Trip, received the Icelandic Public Health Award in the individual category in 2023. The awards are intended to draw attention to significant contributions in the field of public health and thereby increase interest in improving the health and well-being of the general public. The President of Iceland presented the awards, which were handed out for the first time this year. Snorri Már has been living with Parkinson's for 19 years, and in that battle, exercise has been his main weapon. He runs the Facebook page Skemmtiferðin and has been tireless in pointing out the benefits and importance of all kinds of exercise. Not just as a preventative measure against ill health and disability, but also as a treatment for diseases and to keep the symptoms of incurable diseases at bay.
The health-conscious town of Hafnarfjörður encourages the residents of Hafnarfjörður and friends of the town to get out their skipping ropes or invest in some and „skip“ their way into the summer.
