Do you want to get rid of a pine tree from your garden?
As in previous years, the City of Hafnarfjörður is offering to remove fir trees from residents' gardens free of charge. We are looking for fir trees that have finished their purpose in gardeners' gardens and could be placed beautifully in open spaces during the Advent season.

Do you have a fir tree in your garden that could become a source of joy during Advent?
Grenade trees can become very tall and wide and can take up quite a lot of space. Some residents have problems with these trees and it is costly for garden owners to remove them. Therefore, some years ago, the City of Hafnarfjörður decided to offer to remove the trees for free for garden owners and reuse them in open spaces during Advent. The council therefore sends staff and equipment to the site to remove the tree, which is then used as a source of festive cheer over the Christmas period. Once the festivities are over, the tree is turned into wood chippings for use on council land.
Does your tree meet the following conditions?
The conditions are that the tree must have reached a height of at least five metres, that its growth pattern is good, i.e. that the tree is well-branched all the way around, and that it is easy to get to in order to fell it at ground level. The trees will be felled and put up in pre-determined locations in November.
