The grant allocations for the visual arts and museum fund for 2020 have been announced. Hafnarborg is delighted and grateful for the grants awarded for the museum's projects. From the museum fund, Hafnarborg received a grant for two projects.

From the museum fund, Hafnarborg received a grant for two projects: The Port City and the Health Town (1,500,000 kr.) and Photographs on the external website – agreement with Myndstef (800,000 kr.). Work has already begun on both projects.

In collaboration with the Hafnarfjörður Folk Museum and others, Hafnarborg was also allocated Flagpole support for a single project: Collaboration on Museum Education – Strategy and Implementation (12,000,000 kr. over a four-year period).

Hafnarborg then received a grant from the Arts Council for two exhibition projects: Urban Acoustics in the Form of an English Pleasure Garden – an exhibition by composer Davíð Brynjar Franzson, curated by Þráinn Hjálmarsson (300,000 kr.) and Exhibition catalogue for the exhibition 'Long Live the Man: The Works of Thorvaldur Þorsteinsson', in collaboration with the Akureyri Art Museum. (500,000 kr.).

In addition, the curators of the Autumn 2020 exhibition, Becky Forsythe and Penelope Smart, received a grant of 800,000 kr for the production of the exhibition. Wildflower's, where an innovative lens will be directed towards our desire to explore nature.

These grants are an important part of enabling Hafnarborg to flourish and serve the community with interesting projects, whilst also being a stimulating platform for artistic creation and creative dialogue.
