Better service in the City of Hafnarfjörður

All verk ehf. is building a residential cluster at Smyrlahraun 41A. The contract has been signed, and the building is scheduled to be completed in June 2027. The Municipality of Hafnarfjörður invited tenders in a public tender and All verk was selected.

Mayor Valdimar Víðisson says this is a big step and an important milestone. „Three new residential units have opened in the last 7 years. A housing plan has been presented and it is clear that we intend to significantly increase the range of diverse housing options for disabled people in the coming years.“

There are six flats in the residential complex, which will be built for disabled people who require round-the-clock care. The flats will be available to rent, and there is also a flat that houses staff facilities.

Each flat will be 48 square metres, along with 175 square metres of staff and other communal space, for a total of approximately 463 square metres. The total cost of the project is around 380 million króna.

A beautiful, practical house

The house will be solid concrete and clad in light brown aluminium cladding. The canopy will be clad in timber, giving it a warm appearance. The roof will be a double-pitched roof, with a 200 mm solid concrete roof slab which will have waterproof insulation and a turf surface. The windows are large and made of wood and aluminium.

The main entrance to the house is on the south side, offering good access for both pedestrians and motorists. At the entrance, there is a sheltered outdoor area with seating and planting, creating a welcoming environment. Inside, a spacious entrance hall leads directly into a central connecting corridor, the heart of the building, which links the flats, staff and service areas.

The landing is bright and spacious, with increased headroom where the sloping ceilings meet. Skylights let in an abundance of light, creating an open and bright ambience.

The house to be raised in mid-2027

According to the contract, work is due to begin shortly and is expected to continue into next year, concluding in mid-2027 as previously stated. The City of Hafnarfjörður emphasises that the work will be carried out in accordance with quality and safety requirements, and that the development in Smyrlahraun will proceed as planned.
