The town council unanimously agreed at its meeting on 25 May that the Borough of Hafnarfjörður should pay special attention to the threat of human trafficking. The motion states that all procedures within the borough will be reviewed with the aim of protecting those who are vulnerable to human trafficking.

All procurement processes and tender documents will be reviewed in this regard. Furthermore, the City of Hafnarfjörður will ensure that staff and municipal inspectors receive training on how to identify human trafficking. This training has already been delivered twice. Alda Hrönn Jóhannsdóttir, Chief Legal Officer of the Capital Area Police, gave a presentation to a large group of staff recently, and she and Detective Snorri Birgisson gave a briefing to the town council ahead of the council meeting.

The Hafnarfjörður Town Council agrees that the municipality will pay special attention to the threat of human trafficking. All procedures within the council will be reviewed with the aim of protecting those who are vulnerable to human trafficking. All procurement processes and tender specifications will be reviewed with this in mind. Furthermore, the City of Hafnarfjörður will ensure that staff and municipal inspectors receive training on how to identify human trafficking.
