Leisure driving
This school year, all pupils in Years 1–4 will be offered a lift to training sessions starting at 15:00 and 16:00. The service begins on 3 September, with pick-up points at each primary school in Hafnarfjörður. Trips will be made to numerous locations, such as the School of Choreography, the School of Music, Bjarkir, FH, Haukar and SH.
Last school year, after-school transport resumed in Hafnarfjörður, with 6 and 7-year-old pupils being taken to training sessions for three sports clubs. The pilot scheme was a great success, with around 300 pupils using the service each week.

Training schedules are now available for most sports clubs, and many parents have already started to register their children. The project is a collaboration between the City of Hafnarfjörður, the sports clubs and Hópbílar. Registration for the transport is handled through the after-school clubs, and the service will be free of charge for parents. A member of staff from each after-school club will accompany every journey, ensuring the children's safety on the coach.
This ambitious project is intended to shorten the children's working day, increase services for parents, make better use of the sports facilities, support the work of sports and leisure clubs, increase all children's access to healthy sports and youth activities, and make the work of the after-school clubs even more fun.
