What is youth culture? An Erasmus+ project
These ideas sparked the initiative for a group of teenagers from Öldan to get in touch with a group of teenagers from Oulu in Finland, create a project, work on an application for a grant, and receive a grant of €19,900 from Erasmus+.
Can a trip to an ice cream parlour with friends be considered teenage culture? What is teenage culture? What is society doing to promote a healthy social life for teenagers? What are we doing well and what can we do better?
These questions became the spark for a group of teenagers from The wave They got in touch with a group of teenagers from Oulu in Finland, created a project, worked on an application for a grant and received a grant of €19,900 from Erasmus+.
In March, the group from Finland will visit our teenagers in Hafnarfjörður and get to know the local youth culture. The Icelandic and Finnish groups will spend 10 days together, taking part in various team-building activities, discussing issues, visiting youth centres and learning about the culture. In June, the groups will meet again in Finland to explore the matter from a Finnish perspective. After their return home, the participants will write a report and present the project's findings to the relevant parties.
Sandra from Öldan is on hand to support the group and has guided them in their preparatory work. She represented the group at a project manager's meeting and formally accepted the grant from Erasmus+ on the 9th of January! Congratulations, Öldan and the brilliant teenagers!
