Home Economics Teacher Wanted at Öldutúnsskóli
Öldutúnsskóli is advertising for a Home Economics teacher to start on 1 August 2026.
Öldutúnsskóli has around 590 pupils in Years 1–10. We emphasise a creative and rewarding learning environment where the aim is to make learning both interesting and fun. The school's motto is Respect, functionality and well-being and are reflected in all school activities.
The school places a strong emphasis on a good working atmosphere, varied teaching methods, teamwork and team teaching. The school works according to the SMT philosophy of positive behavioural skills and the Olweus programme against bullying and antisocial behaviour. A special emphasis is also placed on environmental education and sustainability.
Key responsibilities and duties:
- Manage home economics teaching at all age levels in collaboration with management and teachers.
- Participate in the development of school activities and professional collaboration within the school.
- To promote the welfare and success of students in partnership with parents and other professionals.
- Work in accordance with the school's policies and priorities.
- Perform other duties in accordance with the teacher's job description.
Educational and competency requirements:
- Teaching licence (a copy must accompany the application).
- Education and/or experience relevant to home economics teaching.
- Diplomatic in communication, flexible and a good team player.
- Initiative and independence in work.
- A positive attitude and an interest in working in a creative and ambitious work environment.
- Punctuality and conscientiousness.
- Good command of Icelandic. The proficiency level is based on the C1 criteria of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

The salary is in accordance with the collective agreement between the Association of Icelandic Local Authorities and the Icelandic Teachers' Association.
A condition of employment is that the applicant provides a clean criminal record.
The application must be accompanied by a detailed CV and a copy of the teaching licence.
The application deadline is 1 July 2026.
