The youth club Ásinn provides children and teenagers in years 5 to 10 with a venue for a varied and enjoyable leisure activity programme in the school's premises after the regular school day has finished. The work is based on youth democracy and in the spirit of prevention. Ásinn is a platform for open social activities, a structured programme, group work and various events that the staff run with the young people.
This job is well suited for students or for those looking for a part-time job, as the working hours are outside of normal working hours. The period of employment is from 25.08.2026 to 10.06.2026.
Key responsibilities and duties:
- Participates in organising and shaping a varied programme.
- Extensive communication and collaboration with children and teenagers
- Create a positive atmosphere based on respect and democratic working practices.
- Support for the initiative of children and adolescents ensures their safety and well-being.
- Other duties as described in the job description
Educational and competency requirements:
- On-the-job training, courses and/or some work experience is sufficient to acquire the required knowledge.
- Experience of working with children and young people
- Knowledge of Icelandic
- Punctuality and organisational skills, initiative and the ability to work independently
- A wide range of interests that are utilised in the work of community centres.
- General computer skills
A condition of employment is that the applicant has a clean criminal record.
