Vidistaðaskóli is looking to hire supply teachers. 

Vídistaðaskóli was founded in 1970. The school is a comprehensive school with pupils from Year 1 to Year 10, and has around 520 pupils. The school's guiding principles are Responsibility – Respect – Friendship. At Víðistaðaskóli, we celebrate diversity and place an emphasis on ensuring every student receives an appropriate education to develop their talents. Emphasis is placed on student well-being, varied teaching methods, and good academic achievement. The school is working on developing team teaching and the use of tablets in its work. The school has an ambitious ethos based on school development and student democracy. Víðistaðaskóli is a health-promoting school and operates in the spirit of the Green Flag, with an emphasis on environmental education and outdoor learning. The school follows the SMT School Skills programme, which focuses on strengthening and promoting positive relationships between pupils and others within the school community. At Víðistaðaskóli, there is a good working atmosphere and a strong sense of unity among all staff.

Competency requirements: 

  • Teaching licence  
  • A solid knowledge of pedagogy in Icelandic
  • Interest in working with children and young people. 
  • Agility in communication, flexibility and cooperativeness. 
  • Initiative and independence in work methods. 
  • Positivity and an interest in working in a creative and ambitious environment. 
  • Punctuality and conscientiousness 
  • Good command of Icelandic. The proficiency level is based on the C1 criteria of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

A clean criminal record is a condition.
