Master plan amendment for Straumsvík Harbour
The Hafnarfjörður Town Council approved on the 01.02. 2023 to advertise a proposal for an amendment to the Master Plan of Hafnarfjörður 2013–2025, in accordance with the 1st paragraph of Article 36 of the Planning Act No. 123/2010.
The amendment proposes an expansion of the H4 harbour area by just over 1 ha to accommodate a new access road on the landfill, and changes are made to the planning provisions. A new road to the south is proposed, connecting the operations on both sides of the Reykjanesbraut, as well as underpasses beneath the Reykjanesbraut. The I5 industrial area is extended south of the Reykjanesbraut and divided into I5A north of the Reykjanesbraut and I5B south of it. A material extraction area at the Rauðamel quarry is also defined.
The amendment proposal, together with the environmental report and statement, will be on display at Norðurhellu 2 and at the service centre at Strandgata 6 from and including
15.5 – 26.6 2023. The proposal is on display at hfj.is/organisation and at the Planning Authority, Borgartún 7.

Zoning amendment for the Reykjanesbraut
The Hafnarfjörður Town Council approved on the 01.03.2023 to advertise a proposal for an amendment to the detailed plan for the Reykjanesbraut, in accordance with Article 43 of the Planning Act No. 123/2010. The amendment involves a change to the boundaries of the detailed plan due to a new detailed plan for Straumsvík, south of the Reykjanesbraut. New underpasses are also proposed under the Reykjanesbraut, east of the Aluminium Smelter's site.

Zoning amendment for the harbour area in Straumsvík
The Hafnarfjörður Town Council approved on the 15.02.2023 to advertise a proposal for a change to the detailed plan for the Straumsvík aluminium smelter, in accordance with section 43 of the Planning Act No. 123/2010. The change provides for the expansion of the harbour area with an enlarged landfill and a new access road to the site.

Detailed plan for Straumsvík south of the Reykjanesbraut
The Hafnarfjörður Town Council approved on the 15.02.2023 to advertise a proposal for a detailed plan for Straumsvík south of the Reykjanesbraut, in accordance with section 43 of the Planning Act no. 123/2010. The proposal establishes a framework for an industrial estate in line with the revised priorities of the Hafnarfjörður general plan. This concerns an area situated between the Kapelluhraun Phase 2 industrial estate and the Reykjanesbraut, which is being divided into over 30 new plots for industrial and commercial activities. This includes plots for existing ISAL structures. The planning area may accommodate the Coda Terminal, a carbon dioxide reception and disposal facility, in addition to conventional industrial plots.

Detailed plan for the Rauðamel quarry
The Hafnarfjörður Town Council approved on the 01.03.2023 to advertise a proposal for a local plan in accordance with Article 37 of the Planning Act No. 123/2010. The proposal involves the designation of a 15.7-hectare aggregate extraction area at Rauðamel, south of the Reykjanesbraut. A 1.6-hectare building plot is proposed within the area, where up to six structures, with a total maximum area of 500 m², will be permitted. Access will be via Bárbara Road. Upon completion of the quarrying, the site is to be reinstated so that it blends in harmoniously with its surroundings.
