Trimming, jam, bird carving and Christmas decorations

The glasshouses at Thorsplan are a new addition to the range of beautiful Christmas houses at Thorsplan, and various parties will be offering all sorts of delicious, creative and fun things in one of them during the Christmas Village's opening hours every weekend leading up to Christmas. Thus, the chaps at Studio 22O offered a pop-up haircut last Saturday, and on Sunday, Helvítis Kokkurinn went to town with his chilli jams, serving up half-moons filled with them. Next weekend, the glasshouse will be a display space for bird carvings and Christmas decorations. Rúnar Ástvaldsson of Bird.is will be hand-carving Icelandic birds from wood on Saturday, which will be available for sale. On Sunday, the mother-daughter team from the Burknar Flower Shop, Gyða and Brynhildur, will be exhibiting some examples of beautiful Christmas decorations suitable for both indoor and outdoor use during Advent. Hafnarborg is hosting a multilingual art workshop on Saturday at 1 p.m., where Arabic calligraphic symbols will be the inspiration for artistic creation, guided by the Lebanese artist Yara Zein. Guðrún Árný will lead a Christmas carol sing-along at Thorsplan at 4 p.m. on Sunday, and the Bereavement Centre's Tree of Sorrow will be lit in Hellisgerði at around 6 p.m. The Little Elf Shop in Hellisgerði is open every weekend in Advent from 12-17, where you can buy beautiful handicrafts and design, and enjoy elf cocoa and gingerbread biscuits.
