Even more power and ambition put into diverse physical activity.

The primary school competition, Skólahreysti, takes place on a competition course like the one that has now been erected at this busy spot in the centre of Hafnarfjörður, with a view over Hamarskotslæk all the way down to the harbour of Hafnarfjörður. The location is near three school catchment areas and close to busy cycle and walking paths. The Health Capital of Hafnarfjörður hopes that the track will be well-attended and used for both regular training by residents and friends of Hafnarfjörður of all ages, and for preparation and training for competitions such as Skólahreysti. With this initiative, the Healthy Town aims to inject even more drive and ambition into diverse physical activity, thereby providing, for example, the municipality's primary schools with a venue for training for the School Health Challenge. Several nurseries and primary schools in Hafnarfjörður are already part of the Health-Promoting Schools network with the Office of the National Commissioner, and more are preparing to join.

Pupils in Hafnarfjörður's primary schools, like pupils in other primary schools across the country, have taken part in Skólahreysti, a team competition between schools, and have done so with great success. There has therefore been a great demand among young people in Hafnarfjörður for access to an obstacle course so they can train in the right environment.

A smaller fitness trail is located at Skarðshlíðarskóli.
