It's a new beginning,“ Fanney said to this large and powerful group of employees from the City of Hafnarfjörður, emphasising the importance of strategic planning. There may be many paths to the goal, but they should all lead to the same destination. „You decide where we go over the next year or two; support creativity, diversity, well-being and collaboration,“ she said.

After her talk, primary school staff went to the first seminars, while nursery school staff listened to Jennýja Dagbjörtu Gunnarsdóttur, a nursery school development officer. She then gave a talk to the nursery school staff about their national curriculum and the changes to it. She said the changes are intended to clarify the role of play as the primary learning approach in the nursery school, and how the attitudes, well-being and situation of the children can be regularly assessed, with their active participation.

  • a spontaneous game of children and it defined,
  • the youngest children in nurseries,
  • the influence of children and their belief in their own ability (empowerment),
  • Equalisation of children's social and cultural circumstances (input value),
  • the importance of belonging to the nursery community (full membership),
  • creative nursery practice with an open and flexible structure, where a variety of learning methods and children's play are prioritised.,
  • Roles and responsibilities of nursery teachers and staff,
  • An assessment of children's learning through play, which is the primary way children learn.

This is the first time such a large staff day has been held at the Education Department of the City of Hafnarfjörður. Yes, there is certainly excitement for the upcoming school year, and joy in welcoming the children back from their summer holiday.
