This summer, the first cultural walk of the season will be offered, with guided tours of the area around Hafnarfjörður town centre every Thursday evening at 8 p.m. This is the second summer the walks have been held, and last year, participation exceeded the highest expectations. Each walk takes about an hour, participation is free and all are welcome.
Thursday evening, 4th June at 8 p.m. Architect Magnea Guðmundsdóttir will guide guests around the Flensborg Harbour area, together with Kristinn Aadnegard, an employee of Hafnarfjörður Harbour. A look will be taken inside the different worlds of the harbour area, and operators will talk about their diverse activities. The fish market at Fornubúðir will be visited, we will stop by the fish processing company Kambi, and finally, the creative designers of the Icehouse will welcome the group. The walk starts at 8 p.m. and departs from Hafnarborg.
This walk is part of the programme for the project. Your place – our environment at Flensburg Harbour, opening a workshop on preparatory work for a new plan for Flensburg Harbour. In Sverrissal at Hafnarborg, visitors can now view a large-scale plan of the harbour area and use it as a basis for their own ideas. There, visitors can also see older maps and plans, photographs, reports and various other documents relating to the area. The workshop is linked to the ongoing revision of the Master Plan for the City of Hafnarfjörður. This gives residents and others the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the reports and other material used in the planning process, and to contribute their own ideas. More about the workshop here.
The Summer Walks are a collaboration between Hafnarborg, the Museum of the Town, the Library and the Office of Cultural Affairs in Hafnarfjörður. The walks are supported by the Ports of Hafnarfjörður.
