Dualling the Reykjanesbraut from Kaldárselsvegur to Krýsuvíkurvegur
The Road Administration, in cooperation with the Municipality of Hafnarfjörður and utility companies, recently put out to tender the dualling of the Reykjanesbraut from Kaldárselsvegur and west of the Krýsuvíkurgatnamót, and associated works relating to changes to the utility companies' pipelines. The works are scheduled to begin this spring and are expected to be completed in late autumn 2020.

Dualling a 3.2 kilometre section

will be between Hvammar and Ásláns, opposite Álftaás. The current underpass at
Thorlakstún will be removed and a bridge will be put in its place. The path design aims to improve
access for all. Before road and bridge construction begins, utility companies will have largely
completed the relocation of pipelines. These are high-voltage cables and telecommunications pipelines.,

Public meeting at Hafnarborg about the works
Hafnarfjörður residents and other interested parties are encouraged to attend an open meeting.
An introductory meeting at Hafnarborg on Wednesday
13 March 2019 at 17:30. At that meeting, the works will be presented in more detail, along with
plans for bypass routes for both vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
