A group from the Norwegian Association of Local Authorities, experts in health and welfare matters, visited Iceland on a fact-finding mission recently to learn about preventative projects run by Icelandic local authorities. The group visited Hafnarfjörður today, where they were given a presentation on the St. Jó. Wellbeing Centre, health promotion for older citizens, and BRÚNNI, at the premises of the St. Jó. Wellbeing Centre.
The group has been touring the greater capital area and, among other things, received a presentation from the City of Reykjavík about the leisure card and the work being done with the children of immigrants to increase their participation in sports. There, the group was introduced to Tinna, a project which aims to improve the quality of life for young single parents and their children who have received financial assistance from the City of Reykjavík. Today, the group visited Hafnarfjörður and were introduced to Janus Heilsueflingu, a preventative project for older people. They also familiarised themselves with a new procedure in the service for children in Hafnarfjörður's nursery and primary schools, a project known as BRÚIN. The Bridge It aims to improve the quality of life for children, adolescents and their families.
We sincerely thank this fantastic Nordic group for their visit and for their interest in our projects!
