International Partnership Projects at Ásland School
Áslandsskóli is currently working with international partners on four collaborative projects. Projects such as these always broaden horizons and provide excellent professional development for staff. This leads to reflection on one's work and practices, which in turn leads to better teaching and an improved learning environment for students.

The projects that Áslandsskóli is working on are as follows:
Continuing a Culture of Learning – strategic Partnerships for school education
Áslandsskóli, together with its international partner schools, has been awarded a so-called KA2 Erasmus+ grant.
The project is a traditional partnership between schools and institutions. The project began in the spring term of 2019 and will conclude in 2021. The participants in the project are: Áslandsskóli, St. Joseph's Comprehensive School-Port Talbot in Wales, Greenway Primary School-Cardiff in Wales, CPI de Atios-Spain, Lieksan Keskuskoulu-Finland, IES Punta Candieira-Spain. The main focus of the project is 21st-century learning and teaching and how schools are meeting the needs of students. The project is a natural continuation of the partnership project Culture of Learning which
Áslandsskóli has participated in recent years. The project is based on the following key elements:
- Management
- Ideology
- Social circumstances
- Trends and developments in learning and teaching
Among the projects will be a discussion on improving the quality of teaching with the student at the centre. The nature of learning, the indispensable role of emotional intelligence in learning and teaching, and the needs of different individuals. Participants come from a broad range of educational settings, and the involvement of higher education institutions also brings aspects such as teacher training into the discussion.
All through schools
The project is based on research into the organisation of schooling. The main focus will be on research into the difference in the age composition of pupils in schools. Schools with pupils aged 6-16 will be compared with schools based on a „primary“ and „secondary“ structure. The project began in the spring term of 2019 and will conclude in 2021. The participants in the project are: Áslandsskóli, the University of Murcia-Spain, the Municipality of Murcia-Spain, the Education Office of Murcia-Spain, the University of Swansea-Wales, the University of Iceland, and the Education Office of Swansea-Wales.
Improve your basic skills through art
The project is based on harnessing students' creativity and utilising their immediate environment for learning and education. It is based on Norse mythology and the integration of social studies,
English and mathematics in the arts and crafts. The project began in the spring term of 2019 and will conclude in 2021. The participants in the project are: Áslandsskóli, Sccala Gimnaziala Nr 1 Slanic Moldova-Romania, Dwujezyczna Szkola Podstawowa Smart School-Lodz-Poland
Nordplus cooperation project
The project is a collaboration between Randers Lille-skole and Áslandsskóli. The project's theme is digital media and communication, and it is based on students from Denmark visiting Ásland School in the autumn term of 2019 to work on a project. Students in a special elective at Ásland School will then travel to Denmark in the spring term of 2020.
