Hafnarfjörður is looking to hire dynamic staff for a rewarding role in its weekend service for people with disabilities. The work is based on the philosophy of supported guidance and independent living.  

An exciting and enjoyable role with a variety of shifts. The successful candidate must be able to work mornings, evenings, nights, and weekends. We are looking for staff for full-time and part-time positions. The position is temporary until 31 December 2026, with the possibility of a permanent appointment.

Key responsibilities and duties: 

  • Providing residents with support with activities of daily living 
  • Have fun at work, be a role model for others and show initiative. 
  • Adhere to service plans and procedures 
  • Encourage residents to participate in the community and in leisure activities. 
  • General household chores 
  • Communication with various service providers 
  • Other tasks that a manager assigns to an employee 

Competency requirements:

  • Experience in similar roles is desirable. 
  • Interest in the affairs of disabled people 
  • Icelandic proficiency A2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
  • Service-mindedness and positivity at work 
  • Interpersonal skills 
  • Initiative and conscientiousness 
  • Good computer skills 
  • Physical ability to carry out demanding tasks in the workplace  
  • Driving licence a condition  

The condition is that the person has reached the age of 20 and has a clean criminal record.

Salary in accordance with the current collective agreement between the Federation of Icelandic Municipalities and the Hafnarfjörður Staff Association.
