Swim - a nationwide swimming initiative in November
Sins is a health and motivational initiative open to everyone in the country. The aim of 'Syndum' is to encourage the public to move more often and for longer in their daily lives, and to make use of swimming and the excellent swimming pools found throughout the country.
The initiative was formally launched two years ago and participation has been extremely good. Last year, the nation's swimmers swam the equivalent of 10.2 laps around the country, or 13,550 km, in 71 swimming pools. It would be great to see similar participation this year, or even more.
The Icelandic Sports and Olympic Association, in collaboration with the Icelandic Swimming Association, is running a national swimming campaign from 1 to 30 November 2023.

Swimming – A nationwide swimming initiative, is a continuation of European Sports Week. The aim of European Sports Week is to promote sports and physical activity across Europe and thus counteract the increasing sedentary lifestyle of the public. Icelanders have been keen swimmers, as we are well-served with good swimming pools all over the country. Swimming is for everyone, regardless of age, background or physical condition, and is an ideal form of exercise for strengthening the cardiovascular system, lungs and muscles. It is also a fantastic and enjoyable pastime that the whole family can do together.
