News

Staff in nurseries, primary schools and music schools are to maintain a distance of at least one metre from each other during school activities, instead of the two-metre rule that generally applies in society, according to changes to the public health regulations introduced yesterday. No distancing requirements apply to pupils of preschool and primary school age.

Proximity rule in school activities: At least one metre's distance between adults

Students and staff in further and higher education are to maintain a distance of at least one metre from each other during school activities, instead of the two-metre rule that generally applies in society, according to changes to the public health regulations introduced today. The same applies to adults working in nurseries, primary schools and music schools, i.e. teachers and other staff who must maintain a distance of at least one metre from each other during school activities. There are no distance restrictions for pupils of nursery and primary school age.

See the Ministry of Health's press release for more details.

School management must continue to ensure that the maximum number of adults in the same room does not exceed 100, in addition to staff and pupils following general public health guidelines. Great emphasis is placed on personal protective measures and hygiene. Infection control measures often require considerable reorganisation and the closure of areas, which schools implement according to local circumstances.

Updated guidance on the operation of schools at all levels is being prepared in close cooperation with public health authorities and operational bodies, and will be shared in the coming days.
