Agreement on digital wellbeing in the school community
The Education Committee has decided to enter into a contract with Anna Laufey Stefánsdóttir, a computer scientist and specialist in smart app development, for the project. Digital well-being in the school community.
Anna Laufey has extensive experience in the design and development of digital solutions, as well as providing education for children, parents and school communities for many years. She has led workshops where participants work together on solutions related to screen use and daily life.
Digital well-being in the school community is an educational project that combines education and workshops for students, parents and teachers. Its aim is to raise awareness of the impact of smart devices and screen time, and to promote a healthy balance in children's digital lives.
The project is a response to the challenge that children's screen use is not only shaped within the home, but also in the wider social context, between friends, families and schools, where rules and norms are often different.
Education for pupils takes place during school hours and is tailored to their age. This is followed by a joint workshop for older pupils, parents and teachers, where the emphasis is on open dialogue, collaboration and the development of realistic standards suitable for daily life.
The project aims to foster collaboration and mutual understanding within the school community, thereby supporting children's well-being in the digital world.
An agreement has been made with five primary schools for the project, but all primary schools are invited to participate. According to Anna, the working method she employs has yielded good results, as the key is for children and parents to work together towards a common goal. Anna also says she is looking forward to starting the project in the autumn and meeting the children and parents of Hafnarfjörður.
