The Civil Protection Committee of the Capital Region met at the end of last week at the request of the Director of Public Health. The purpose of the meeting was to coordinate and plan the response to the coronavirus (2019-nCoV). The Director of Public Health reviewed the capital region's role in the response should and when the virus appears in Iceland. The Emergency Management Team of the City of Hafnarfjörður has already begun preparations for a response to be ready for any eventuality.

The Civil Protection Committee of the Capital Region met at the end of last week at the request of the Director of Public Health. The Director of Public Health and the Office of the Chief Medical Officer have declared a state of uncertainty regarding the coronavirus. The emergency management team of the City of Hafnarfjörður has already begun preparing response measures to be ready for any eventuality. The preparations include, amongst other things, reviewing plans and procedures to ensure an uninterrupted service should any measures need to be taken. The management of Hafnarfjörður Municipality has already been informed of the necessary preventative and operational measures.
The State Epidemiologist and the National Civil Protection Service will keep the public informed of developments as they occur, as these bodies are in charge of the response to the virus.
