The sports fishing courses in Hafnarfjörður held their annual dorgveiði competition at Flensborg pier on Wednesday. Over 300 anglers aged 6-12 years turned up at the pier and caught nearly 100 fish. Various sea creatures were caught, including cod, whiting, dab and a starfish.

The sports fishing courses in Hafnarfjörður held their annual dorgveiði competition at Flensborg pier on Wednesday. Over 300 anglers aged 6-12 years turned up at the pier and caught nearly 100 fish. Various sea creatures were caught, including cod, whiting, dab and a starfish.

Hörður Rafnar Auðarson Pálmarsson caught a strange kind of bristleworm and won a prize for the oddest fish. Anita Ósk Hilmarsdóttir and Karen Guðmundsdóttir caught the biggest fish, a codling weighing 363 grams. Together they caught two fish and won the competition for the most fish, as everyone else only caught one. Tómstund took home the travelling trophy for the most fish per course.

Rapala gave the winners fishing rod sets and the prize-winners received a trophy.
Competitors were provided with fishing tackle and bait at the competition venue, and the instructors from the sports and games courses provided robust supervision, along with the Þyt Sailing Club, which had a rescue boat in the area.
