The Hafnarfjörður youth club singing competition was held this week. This annual competition is a qualifying round for the Samfés singing competition, which will be held in the Laugardalshöll on Saturday, 5th March.
The competition took place at the Gaflar Theatre, and the venue was packed out with a tremendous atmosphere. A total of 14 acts took part in the competition, two acts from each youth centre. These were acts that had been selected in preliminary rounds held by the youth centres earlier this winter. The judges were Bjarki Lárusson, Elísabet Ormslev, Eysteinn Eysteinsson and Margrét Arnardóttir. The two acts chosen as winners, and thereby elected as representatives of the Hafnarfjörður youth clubs at Samfés, were Ísold Ylfa Schweitz Jakobsdóttir, who performed the song 'Minning mín / Photograph' by Ed Sheeran and comes from Hrauni. Then there were Helena Clausen Heiðmundsdóttir, Hildur Clausen Heiðmundsdóttir and Saga Rún Vilhjálmsdóttir, who sang the song 'Skyscraper' by Demi Lovato and are from the Mosinn. The evening's presenters were Fannar Þór Benediktsson and Jónas Eyjólfur Jónasson.
Judges and spectators alike all agreed that the competition was exceptionally tough this year, as there were incredibly talented youngsters in Hafnarfjörður. We sincerely congratulate all the contestants on their fantastic achievements and look forward to seeing the winners be our pride at Samfés in the Laugardalshöll in March.
