Harvest Festival of Cleansing
On Thursday, 12th May, employees of businesses and organisations, along with pupils and teachers of all school levels in Hafnarfjörður, are encouraged to roll up their sleeves and get out to pick up litter and carry out a clean-up. The contribution of every single person makes a difference.
With a concerted community clean-up effort, Hafnarfjörður will become super-clean in a short time. On Thursday 12th May Employees of companies and institutions, along with pupils and teachers of all school levels in Hafnarfjörður, are encouraged to roll up their sleeves, put on their wellington boots, get gloved up and head out for some litter picking and cleaning. Every single contribution makes a difference.
Clean-up days are taking place from 2nd – 16th May, and on Thursday, 12th May, employees of businesses and institutions, along with pupils of all school stages, are particularly encouraged to get stuck into cleaning up their local area. Containers will be placed at three locations in Hafnarfjörður, primarily for the disposal of timber and metal from businesses in each respective area. The containers will be on site for two full days – Thursday, 12 May and Friday, 13 May.

Celebrating the end of Clean-up Day – a light-hearted party at Ásvallalaug
At the end of Clean-up Day on 12 May, from 18:00 to 19:00, there will be a get-together with light refreshments at Ásvallalaug. All residents and staff of businesses and institutions are welcome to a light reception after a well-done job on the clean-up days. The Mayor and the town council will be on hand to welcome guests and passers-by.
