Garden waste collected
Council staff will be collecting garden waste from residents' homes around town from 16th to 22nd May. All garden waste must be in bags, and residents are strongly encouraged to take advantage of this service.
Town officials will be out and about in the town on the days 16th – 22nd May. Garden waste in the North Town, West Town, hraun and the town centre will be collected from home on 16 May, in Setberg, Kinnar and Hvammar on 18 May, and in Ásland, Vogar and Holt on 22 May.
Residents of Hafnarfjörður are asked to place garden waste at the kerbside at the end of the designated collection days for each neighbourhood. Please note that all garden waste must be in bags, and bear in mind that reasonably weighted bags make the collection process easier for our staff. Residents are encouraged to make use of this service provided by the council.
Once the spring clean is over, owners and plot holders must take their garden waste to Sörpu themselves – information on opening hours can be found on the Sörpu website: www.sorpa.is It is also ideal to collect garden waste over the summer in a compost heap in a convenient place in the garden and use it for composting.
