These rules apply to the cancellation of fees in nurseries and after-school clubs due to quarantine/isolation.
- If a child in a nursery or after-school club is placed in mandatory quarantine or isolation, a parent must provide a certificate from a healthcare provider. Fees will then be waived for the duration of the quarantine or isolation period.
- If a class in a nursery school, or the entire nursery school/after-school club, closes due to an infection within the facility and children/pupils are placed in mandatory quarantine as a result, there is no need to submit a certificate.
- An application for a refund of nursery and leisure activities fees must be sent to the nursery/leisure centre by email to the nursery manager/head of leisure activities. The application must be accompanied by a certificate of quarantine/isolation. The application must be submitted within two weeks of the end of the quarantine/isolation period.
- Reimbursement for quarantine/isolation is in the form of a discount on nursery/after-school club fees for the month following receipt of the application and certificate by the nursery/after-school club.
- The discount under these guidelines is not retroactive.
- There are no official recommendations to keep children at home unless they are ill or in quarantine. Therefore, the City of Hafnarfjörður will not refund fees if parents choose to keep their children at home.
How do I get a certificate/confirmation for quarantine?
These guidelines were approved by the Education Committee on 15 December, with subsequent amendments on 19 January, and came into effect on 15 December 2021.
General guidelines on quarantine/isolation related to the above
- Individuals need to be registered for quarantine in order for a certificate to be issued. Individuals are registered for quarantine due to travel or close contact with a confirmed case.
- Certificates are not issued for quarantine after travel. Rules on quarantine after travel apply to everyone arriving in the country in accordance with a ministerial regulation, and no special certificates are issued for this purpose.
- Certificates are not issued for the so-called processing quarantine (see the definition of this term below), as it is a temporary measure and not a formal quarantine under direct instructions.
