The Cultural Fund supports cultural activities in Hafnarfjörður.
The main allocation of the collections fund for 2024 took place at the recent annual meeting of the main museums and the Museum Board. On this occasion, Hafnarborg received grants for two projects, and the Hafnarfjörður Folk Museum for three projects.
Hafnarborg and the Hafnarfjörður Museum of Cultural History received grants in the main allocation of the Museum Fund at the annual meeting of the main museums and the Museum Council for 2024. Hafnarborg received grants for two projects, each of 1.5 million króna. The Hafnarfjörður Folk Museum received three grants this time, totalling 2.7 million króna. The Minister of Culture and Commerce presented the grants at a ceremony in the National Museum on Hverfisgata. The total allocation amounted to 176 million króna, and this year, over 211 million króna has been allocated from the Museum Fund.

Hafnarborg's two funded projects were. On the one hand, the project In my language — museum education in foreign languages where art workshops and guided tours with professionals are offered in foreign languages. The project began last year with a grant from the museum fund. The other project is Landsnám, a solo exhibition by Pétur Thomsen. The grant is awarded to stage this extensive solo exhibition of the photographer's work, which will be held in the main hall of Hafnarborg towards the end of the year. The Hafnarfjörður Museum of Local History received three grants on this occasion, totalling 2.7 million króna.
