Creative content provider one of the school's hallmarks
Every year around Nursery School Day, the staff and pupils transform the school hall into a creative resource centre and open the school to parents and carers. „Remida, or the creative materials bank, plays a significant role in our working methods, and this focus is reflected throughout our work and internal behaviour.“ says Harpa Kolbeinsdóttir, nursery head teacher. „Creative thinking, the use of open-ended materials in art, outdoor learning, play, mixed-age grouping, individualised teaching and good parental partnership are the key to our school's work.“ In the nurseries, the children use reusable materials to bring their ideas to life in a free, varied and creative way. The materials are sourced from a wide range of places, including staff, parents and businesses. The school's walls preserve the children's creations, which have also found their way onto the walls of homes in Hafnarfjörður.
