The Indian Ambassador on a visit
Business, tourism, India, world affairs and the six-month stay of R. Ravindra, the Indian ambassador, were discussed when he met Valdimar Víðisson, the mayor, at the town hall offices yesterday morning.
Ravindra is now strengthening ties and visiting the municipalities in the capital region. Yoga was mentioned, as was the expectation of even more Indian tourists to the country; there were well over thirty thousand last year.
The relationship was strengthened.
The meeting was informal but important for strengthening the network. Ravindra was in a major interview with Morgunblaðið at the beginning of April. There, he said he was hopeful that direct flights between the countries would soon begin. A new trade agreement would make it easier for Indians to establish themselves in Iceland, just as it does the same for Icelanders in India. There are many opportunities there for Icelanders.
Ravindra has had a long career in the Indian Foreign Service, dating back to 1999. He has served in Egypt, Libya, Sri Lanka, the Ivory Coast, and at the Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations in New York. He is now the Ambassador to this country.
Thanks, Ravindra, for the visit. Very interesting and important.
