Chinese delegation visits Hafnarfjörður

Cooperation across continents

A Chinese delegation from Gangsha visited the town of Hafnarfjörður last Friday. The visit was extremely interesting. Three Hafnarfjörður-based companies presented their operations.

Eleven people made up the Chinese delegation, which was led by Zou Te, Executive Director of the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee. After the meeting here in the fjord, the delegation went on to visit many places. They visited Landsvirkjun, Auðkenni, and the Health Centre in Hveragerði. The trip concluded at Fjörukráin.

Joint workshop

The Chinese delegation stopped in Hafnarfjörður for a day. A workshop was held, and the town was also presented to the group. She was enthusiastic about Hafnarfjörður and the extensive infrastructure the town has to offer. It was very interesting to see the vision of the Chinese city, which relies on technology and its advancement.

Valdimar Víðisson, the mayor, welcomed the group and led the visit. Sigurður Nordal, head of the administrative department, gave a talk about the town and its operations.

Zou Te, chairman of the Chinese delegation, presented the Mayor of Hafnarfjörður with a gift at the end of the workshop. He took home a picture book from Hafnarfjörður, a lava-decorated chocolate box and our good lighthouse.

A major city in China

The three Hafnarfjörður companies that met the delegation were Von, Te og kaffi and Og Natura. Jóhannes Egilsson, Guðmundur Halldórsson and Ragnheiður Axel Eyjólfsdóttir. The Chinese were enthusiastic, praised OgNatúra's health drinks, wanted to know a lot about the coffee and were very interested in the dried fish.

Changsha is a major city in China. It is the capital of Hunan Province in central China, and its history dates back to the Zhou Dynasty (1046–256 BC). It has a population of around 10.5 million and is said online to be the fifteenth largest city in that populous country.
