Let's build a magnificent leisure centre together.

News

A new sports, leisure and recreation centre is planned for Hamranes. We would like your opinion on what activities you think would be best suited there. Your voice could influence the final outcome.

Your opinion matters

Do you want to shape a new sports, leisure and recreation centre in Hamranes? We invite you to take part in a survey and share your opinion. It takes 5-10 minutes.

  • The centre is conceived as a dynamic hub for a diverse range of indoor activities. Each sport largely has access to its own specialised facilities, but also shares common areas such as changing rooms, showers, meeting facilities, a reception, catering areas and more.

As Hamranes is on the edge of the settlement, the area offers a unique connection to a diverse and desirable outdoor recreational area. This creates an opportunity for holistic development, both indoors and outdoors.

But why are we turning to you? Yes, for the centre to meet the community's expectations, we want to hear the opinions of residents and other interested parties. The survey is about which sports and leisure activities people feel are most important to have in the area, whether indoors or outdoors.

  • We also want to hear residents' ideas about the necessary facilities, services and the scale of infrastructure that could benefit residents of Hafnarfjörður who visit the area.

Your participation is important! — the responses will be used both as part of the preparatory work for the working group overseeing the project, and as a basis for future strategic decisions.

Take note

  • The survey only takes a few minutes.
  • The answers are completely anonymous.
  • The survey can be answered until the end of August.

We thank you very much for taking the time to participate and shape the future area in Hamranes with us.

Updated: The news has been updated there. a far too large area was earmarked for the centre in the previous proposal. This proposal is at an idea stage, so the full planning process remains to be undertaken, during which residents will have even better input into the matter should it proceed.
