Event and project grants

Twice a year, the Culture and Tourism Committee of Hafnarfjörður invites applications for grants for cultural activities and the promotion of cultural life in Hafnarfjörður. The aim is to support cultural activities in accordance with the city's cultural policy and to support individuals and organisations in artistic and cultural creation. Artists, organisations, institutions or cultural events must be connected to Hafnarfjörður in some way.  This can be through permanent residency, by the event taking place in Hafnarfjörður, or by featuring the cultural activities of the city. Funding is not provided for travel, study, or general running costs. The application must state the following:

  • Objectives, description and justification of the application
  • Grant amount
  • Time and Work Schedule
  • Further funding
  • Cost estimate

The Culture and Tourism Committee assesses applications based on the objectives of the projects and how they will be used to promote a diverse cultural life for the benefit of the town's residents and artists from Hafnarfjörður. Consideration is given to the feasibility of the projects, the cost estimate, as well as the timescale and work plan. A partnership agreement can be applied for in respect of longer-term or recurring projects for a period of up to three years.

Here you can find information about the grant application, the allocation rules, and what applicants need to bear in mind.

Applications must be submitted electronically to Our pages on the website of the City of Hafnarfjörður: www.hafnarfjordur.is
