„Do you have a foreign friend or neighbour who has recently moved to town? Are there new children with a foreign background in your children's class? Did you know that here in Hafnarfjörður, the five of us work as bridge-builders? What is that? Well, we bridge the gap between cultures. We help new residents get settled, understand the culture and become part of our wonderful community,“ write the Bridge Builders of Hafnarfjörður. in the Fjarðarfréttir newspaper, Hafnarfjörður Youth, the bridge builders Bjarki Rafn Andrésson, Anna Sigríður Sveinbjörnsdóttir and Hemn Hussein in the primary schools, and Elisabeth López Arriaga and Rima Alhakeem in the nurseries.
„It's important that the new children in town find their feet and get to know those who live here already. Tómstund.is is on the Hafnarfjörður municipality website. It points to summer courses,“ they point out.
„We bridge-builders will then be at the Hafnarfjörður Library for two days, on the 19th and 20th of May between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. There, we will help foreign parents who live here to register their children for courses and the summer school. People are also welcome to come along if they have questions or are curious about life in Hafnarfjörður. We're actually reminding all parents about the leisure activities grant. It can also be used during the summer. Yes, we have a wide range of leisure activities here in Hafnarfjörður. It's great fun helping people find the right activities for their children. We have everything you could wish for.
