Cultural grants awarded

The City of Hafnarfjörður awarded cultural grants at a ceremony in Hafnarborg last Friday, and 23 individuals, cultural groups or organisations received grants from the Cultural and Tourism Committee this year. Grants totalling kr. 4,240,000 were awarded. In addition, the Gaflar Theatre receives kr. 20,000,000 per year under a contract. The Hafnarfjörður Town Council approved at its meeting today that employees of the municipality of Hafnarfjörður will be given the afternoon of 19 June 2015 off in celebration of the 100th anniversary of women's suffrage in Iceland. Registration for summer jobs has opened.

Registration for summer activities run by the City of Hafnarfjörður is now open on My Pages at www.hafnarfjordur.is - registration for the 2015 summer courses is under Other Applications. Bright days 22-26 April

Tobacco is still being sold to minors.

In March and April, the prevention officer for Hafnarfjörður conducted a survey to see if teenagers could buy cigarettes or snuff at tobacconists in Hafnarfjörður. Annual Report 2014

The operating result for the year, excluding exceptional items, was a positive 409 million kronor, whereas the plan had provided for an operating surplus of 619 million.
