Hjarta Hafnarfjarðar's final push is ahead

The final weekend of Heart of Hafnarfjörður is upon us, and with it, the six-week music festival that has brought a vibrant atmosphere to the town centre of Hafnarfjörður all summer long comes to an end. It is estimated that close to 60.000 Visitors have attended the festival since it began at the end of June, creating a unique atmosphere in the town's squares, restaurants and streets.

„We could hardly have wished for a better summer.“ says Páll Eyjólfsson, one of the operators of Bæjarbíó and a leader of Hjarta Hafnarfjarðar. „What perhaps pleases us most is seeing how people are using the city centre. People are coming early, getting something to eat, meeting friends, enjoying the events and music, and creating a buzz that spreads throughout the whole area. This is exactly what we were hoping for when we set out.“

The town centre has become a meeting place

In a short time, the Heart of Hafnarfjörður has established itself as one of the country's largest summer music events. Every weekend, thousands of visitors have made their way to the town centre, where free concerts, food trucks and a varied programme have created a buzz and joy. Páll says the collaboration with the City of Hafnarfjörður, businesses in the town centre and numerous other parties is crucial.

„This wouldn't be possible without the efforts of many people. We feel a great deal of goodwill, and it's wonderful to see how warmly the people of Hafnarfjörður welcome visitors from all over the country.“

Another big weekend ahead

Although five fantastic weekends are behind us, there is still plenty to come. This weekend, the final chapter of the festival will be written with a spectacular programme, where a diverse group of musicians will take to the stage and the town centre will come alive from Thursday to Saturday evening. „We're going to end this in style. We encourage both residents of Hafnarfjörður and anyone who hasn't yet paid us a visit to pop in, enjoy the atmosphere and join us for the final weekend.“

The programme will be varied over the weekend. Hamingjustund and Hreimur with PopQuiz. Magnús Kjartan with a class sing-along and Stuðlabandið, along with Röggu Gísla and Stebbi Hilmars, on Thursday. On Friday, during the happy hour, Sandra Barilli will host party bingo and Land og synir will perform. On Saturday, Eva Ruza will host party bingo and a celebrity PopQuiz, followed by Nýdönsk in the evening.

Hafnarfjörður wishes the organisers, musicians and everyone who has contributed all the best with a splendid event. The heart of Hafnarfjörður has once again shown what happens when a vibrant cultural life, collaboration and a lively town centre come together.

We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible in the centre of Hafnarfjörður this weekend.
