Gói, Nína Dögg and many more in the parents' council video – Watch
„It takes a village to raise a child. But it also takes courage to care,“ says Vala Steinsdóttir, chairperson of the Hafnarfjörður Parents' Council, in the council's new video. A number of well-known individuals take part, offering advice and encouraging a life of activity, exercise and recreation in the real world. Watch the video.

„Let's put down our phones and do something fun together,“ says Guðjón Karlsson, actor Gói, in a new video from the Parents„ Council of Hafnarfjörður. Singer Jóhanna Guðrún Jónsdóttir adds: “Like, for example, going swimming."
Dreams come true
A number of well-known individuals are supporting the Parents' Council of Hafnarfjörður in the video. Actress Nína Dögg Filippusdóttir, national team handball player Elín Klara Þorkelsdóttir and Hafnarfjörður's Sportswoman of the Year 2023 and 2024, Coach Bjarni Fritz and Anton Sveinn McKee, Icelandic and Nordic swimming champion and Olympian, who encourages young people and their families to set big goals.
„Dreams come true in the real world,“ he says. Silja Úlfarsdóttir, a coach and podcast host, encourages everyone to pay attention to their sleep and nutrition. „We're going to get out and be active.“ Broadcaster Ragnhildur Steinunn Jónsdóttir suggests making use of your local surroundings. Thorgrímur Þráinsson encourages communication. Two new words a day are a treasure for life.
We are the village
Vala Steinsdóttir, chair of the Hafnarfjörður Parents„ Council, points out that it takes a whole village to raise a child. “But it also takes courage to care. We at the Parents' Council believe that through a joint effort we can build a community where our children can flourish."
The video was shown at the last meeting of the 'We Are the Village' series. The meeting was titled: 'Let's Face the Facts'. The series is about the well-being and safety of young people. It is also part of the City of Hafnarfjörður's journey towards gaining recognition as child-friendly municipality UNICEF in Iceland.
