Two new exhibitions at Hafnarborg

The exhibitions 'In Harmony with Matter and Spirit', which looks back on the long and varied career of the artist Eiríkur Smith, and 'Ode to Colour', an exhibition of later works by Sveinn Björnsson created with great feeling and a love of colour, were opened on Ascension Day.  The exhibitions are being held to mark the fact that both artists would have celebrated their 100th birthdays this year, had they lived. Open from 11 am to 5 pm every day except Tuesdays.

Always Ready – Scouting for 100 Years

The summer opening of the Hafnarfjörður Museum of Local History has begun, and all the exhibitions are now open from 11 am to 5 pm every day. The museum's new themed exhibition in the Packhouse at 6 Vesturgata is a show honouring 100 years of scouting, entitled 'Always Ready'. The Packhouse usually hosts three exhibitions at a time: a permanent exhibition on the town's history, a toy exhibition, and a themed exhibition. At the museum's exhibitions, you can learn about the history and culture of Hafnarfjörður in a lively, fun and informative way. Two exhibitions are outdoors: one at Strandstígur and the other, 'Cold Lights', in the underpasses beneath Lækjargata by Hamarkotslækur, and are therefore open 24 hours a day, all year round.
