Minimise the use of plastic in daily life

The Green Flag is an environmental award that is respected worldwide as a symbol of good environmental education and environmental policy in schools. The flag is awarded to
schools following projects intended to raise awareness among students, teachers and
Families on environmental issues. This winter, the nursery worked with the theme „Consumption/Plastic Consumption“. The aim of the project was to minimise all
the use of plastic in daily life and make children and adults more aware of
its harm to the environment. All age groups worked on a variety of tasks.

for all to see. The delicacies were weighed and it was found that each family
generates just over 29 kg of plastic each year! The nursery school has 137
families and these families therefore release a combined total of approximately 4 tonnes of plastic on
a year! A very high figure, especially in light of the fact that plastic does not decompose in soil and
is a significant threat to wildlife and nature. Part of the winter's project was to
discuss what could replace plastic and whether plastic always needed to be used. Those who worked on the project found that much could be done to
to curb the amount of plastic, use reusable shopping bags, for example, avoid putting vegetables and fruit in plastic bags, choose products based on
the amount of packaging and by recycling the plastic and trying to reuse it
as much as possible of the plastic that comes with consumer goods.
