The innovation centre formally reopened
There was a large crowd when the Innovation Centre was formally reopened after refurbishment and an upgrade. The vision is for everyone to be able to enjoy it there.
Open house at the Innovation Centre
The Innovation Centre by the Stream was formally opened after an upgrade and refurbishment yesterday afternoon. The building was packed, with life and bustle in every corner. Valdimar Víðisson cut the ribbon, a symbolic act for the newly refurbished Innovation Centre.
„Our vision is for everyone here to be able to enjoy themselves, work on projects and create,“ said Bryndís Steina Friðgeirsdóttir, director of the Innovation Centre, at the open house.
There are currently:
- Facilities to offer courses for diverse groups
- The experimental workshop, which will be dedicated to Art and Creativity
- A technology workshop, where you can work on your ideas with tools such as 3D printers, vinyl cutters and
- Open workshops will be held once a week this winter where anyone can work on their ideas and skills.
- The café, Bollinn, is open while the building is open. There you can play games, chat, or work on your ideas.
- The Composition Studio is a fun extension of the Library's music and podcast offerings.
- The youth centre 'Hreiðrið' is now based here, providing recreational facilities for young people aged 16-25.
- The Hafnarfjörður Work School is also with us this summer, as is Creative Summer Employment.
Yes, this old Lækjarskóli is buzzing with activity again. That was the case yesterday as the youngsters enjoyed popcorn, Einar Sverrisson gave a 3D presentation, and you could heat-press pictures onto T-shirts. The Youth Council presented its activities and representatives from the Work School spoke about their work. Melodious tunes also echoed through the building when violinist Tómas Vigur Magnússon played a few tunes.
