Thanks to everyone. Nearly seventy employees of the City of Hafnarfjörður put on gloves, took up a broom and a bin bag, and spent a good amount of time on cleaning duties. This initiative is part of the City of Hafnarfjörður's clean-up campaign from 2nd to 16th May.

Nearly seventy employees of the City of Hafnarfjörður put on gloves, took up brooms and bin bags, and spent a good amount of time on cleaning duties in Hafnarfjörður's town centre, at Reykjavíkurveg, Strandstíg and the music school this week. A large group was also carrying out clean-up work in Vogar, in and around the Norðurhella area. This initiative is part of the City of Hafnarfjörður's clean-up campaign from 2nd to 16th May, where all residents, students of all school levels, and employees of businesses and institutions have been encouraged to take an active part.

„Wash away the dirt, so someone might want a little.“

An annual clean-up campaign in Hafnarfjörður has been underway from 2nd to 16th May. During this period, council workers have been busy cleaning up all over Hafnarfjörður and have simultaneously challenged residents and staff of businesses and institutions in the town to take an active part by cleaning up their own grounds and immediate surroundings. Similarly, nurseries and primary schools in Hafnarfjörður have organised their own clean-up days, where all pupils and teachers have been tasked with cleaning specific areas, both within their grounds and in their immediate surroundings.  Yesterday, creative artists at the Hafnarfjörður Icehouse and at the Viking Village on Flensborg Harbour got together to clean the beach and the pier. The clean-up efforts were then celebrated with a complimentary soup from the City of Hafnarfjörður, where the mayor and councillors warmly welcomed guests and passers-by at Ásvallalaug. An increasing number of domestic and international tourists are starting to visit the town, and their numbers are expected to grow in the coming months. Seven new shops have opened in the Fjörður shopping centre in recent weeks, and a number of new and varied restaurants and cafés have also been and are currently opening. A lively and enjoyable summer is on the cards in Hafnarfjörður, and everyone hopes that a clean and tidy Fjörður will welcome residents and visitors.

The Mayor and staff of the City of Hafnarfjörður send their thanks to residents, students at all levels of schooling, and employees of businesses and institutions in the town for their contribution to the clean-up efforts in Hafnarfjörður. The mind carries us halfway, but together we go the whole way.

Thank you!
