Setbergsskóli is looking to hire a department manager for the school's leisure centre.
Setbergsskóli is seeking to appoint a Leisure Activities Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the after-school club, Krakkaberg, and the youth centre, Setrið. The Manager of the Leisure Activities Department works closely with the school's management on a variety of projects in a challenging and ambitious working environment. We are looking for a colleague with great ideas and the ambition for professional, high-quality work with children and young people. The leisure centre includes an after-school club for 6-9 year olds and a youth club for 10-16 year olds. The aim of the leisure centre is to give children and young people the opportunity to take part in creative and developmental social activities in a healthy, equal-opportunity environment.
Setbergsskóli was founded in 1989 and has around 430 pupils. The school also runs a special unit for children with autism. A good working atmosphere and positive communication characterise the staff, and the well-being of pupils and staff is always our guiding principle.

Key tasks:
- Overseeing and managing the activities of the leisure centre, together with assistant project managers.
- Engages in preventative and educational work on various issues related to children and young people.
- Planning and implementation of projects and events
- Ensures that the flow of information to children, adolescents, parents and partners is effective.
- Fosters good collaboration with various partners, such as parents, schools, social services, other institutions, other youth centres and after-school clubs, and organisations that work with children and young people.

Educational and competency requirements:
- A Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Education and Educational Sciences, Leisure Studies, or another B.A. programme relevant to the role.
- Organisational and management skills
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Experience and interest in working with children and young people
- Experience of working in a club or youth centre is an advantage.
- Good general computer skills
- Good command of Icelandic and English
Purchases and terms are in accordance with the collective agreements of the Federation of Icelandic Municipalities and BHM.
The application deadline is 29 April 2026.
The Council shall take up its duties from 15 May 2026 or by mutual agreement.
