Summer staff who will be working at the Hafnarfjörður Service Centre

Positions are available in three different groups, and we ask applicants to state which groups they are interested in applying for in the comments. The groups available are:

·         Mowing crew

·         Maintenance group

·         Flower group

Key responsibilities and duties

• Lawn mowing and maintenance
• Cleaning and maintenance of tree and plant beds
• Cleaning of open areas
• Planting of saplings and summer flowers
• Shingling and edging
• Maintenance of footpaths, fences and other assets on council land.

Competency requirements

• Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
• Experience in gardening and related maintenance is an advantage.
• Good Icelandic and English skills.

Further information about the job

• The salary is in accordance with the collective agreement of the Federation of Icelandic Municipalities and the Hlíf trade union.
• An opportunity is offered for work of up to a maximum of 468 hours over the summer period.
• The working hours are 8:00-16:00 from Monday to Thursday and 8:00-12:00 on Fridays.
• The working week for staff in Hafnarfjörður is 36 hours.
