Occupational therapist wanted for a home for people with disabilities.
Hafnarfjörður is seeking to appoint an ambitious occupational therapist to work in a home for people with disabilities from 1 September 2026. The position is 80-100% and involves working in shifts on day, evening and weekend duties. Work is carried out in accordance with the philosophy Servant leadership.
Key responsibilities and duties:
- Performs professional duties in collaboration and consultation with service users and the manager, such as the preparation of service plans, organisation, record-keeping and other tasks.
- Implements the role and objectives of the unit.
- Participates in training and professional support for staff in their daily work.
- To promote the effectiveness, welfare and well-being of service users.
- Provides service users with personalised support in their daily lives.
- Other duties as described in the job description.
Educational and competency requirements:
- Practitioner licence as an occupational therapist
- Experience or knowledge of the organisation of professional work in occupational therapy is desirable.
- Interest in the affairs of disabled people
- Collaboration and organisational skills
- Initiative, conscientiousness and interpersonal skills
- Positive attitude and a strong service-mindedness.
- Knowledge of Icelandic is a requirement., A2 language standard ETM Self-Assessment Framework (coe.int)
The condition is that the person has reached the age of 20 and has a clean criminal record.

Salary in accordance with the current collective agreement between the Association of Icelandic Local Authorities and the Association of Occupational Therapists of Iceland.
