The clean-up and then everything returns to normal. This year's town festival, Heart of Hafnarfjörður, has come to an end. Everything went according to plan, and the memories of many now hold these wonderful moments.

The Heart of Hafnarfjörður for 10 years

„A Wonderful Heart this year,“ says Páll Eyjólfsson, operations manager of Bæjarbíó. „We're thankful to have matched last year; now in the wettest July in 40 years, compared to the best summer in fifty years last year.“

Today, we've been working hard to take down all the equipment and gear that hosted this year's town festival. Six weekends down, over 60,000 visits. Visitors had a fantastic time here at The Heart. The car parks will be back in use on Thursday.

„We are extremely grateful,“ says Páll. Agnar Hermannsson, the festival's director, agrees. „There was a queue for opening time every single day, except for the two Saturdays when we opened at two o'clock. But it was nice to see people coming in before they went home to their garden parties.“

Agnar says it's always fun to find the charm that characterises the festival as a whole. „A wide age range comes here, the oldest in their eighties and the youngest guest twenty.“ The last two weekends have been the most well-attended. „The most we had was 1,200 people in a row. That was when Rottweiler were playing,“ he says.

Two thousand were on the site at any one time. „The weather plays a big part. We had heavy rain for two weekends. People came anyway, and we added two tents to the outdoor area with seating for 400 people.“

The festival has grown and flourished, and this was the tenth. It has certainly established itself. The City of Hafnarfjörður gives its full support to the town festival. Support for the project has been agreed until the year 2030. The festival is one of the city's key cultural projects.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who came to the festival – and to all who helped with it.
