Group work for young people with disabilities in two schools

A group for young people with disabilities in Years 5–7 is offered at the youth club Öldan in Öldutúnsskóli, and a group for young people with disabilities in Years 8–10 is offered at Mosinn in Hraunvallaskóli. The group work is intended for young people who need additional social support and want to join a group where they have the opportunity to get to know their peers. The aim of the programme is to provide young people with support to enhance their social skills and form connections, practise communication and build trust in a safe environment.  The young people themselves have a direct influence on the programme, getting the opportunity to express their opinions and help to prepare the group's activities. Parents/guardians need to apply for the group activity to ensure that the preparation is as thorough as possible and that participation is as enjoyable as possible.

The Rock Leisure Facility

Kletturinn is a specialised leisure activity for children and young people with various disabilities, where the emphasis is on the guidance and tools each individual needs to grow, flourish and enjoy themselves in a safe environment. There will be an open house every Wednesday this winter from 6 pm to 8 pm, and young people in Years 9 to 11 are welcome to attend, especially those who need special social support. The aim is, among other things, to break down isolation and to train and empower young people to participate and be active in social situations. Kletturinn is located at 14 Suðurgata in Hafnarfjörður, and the entrance is on the first floor on the Strandgata side. Booking is not required for Kvöldklettinn, but those with high support needs are advised to bring a support person with them.
