„Christmas is our time,“ says Klara Lind Þorsteinsdóttir, owner of the Strand 49 shop, along with her friend Birna Harðardóttir. Strand 49 is an elegant gift and designer goods shop for all ages at 49 Strandgata in Hafnarfjörður. The shop took over from Álfagull during the year and has maintained its spirit while expanding.
„We also went into the Gatsby space next door,“ says Klara. „People are incredibly interested in the building and it's clear it's close to the hearts of the people of Hafnarfjörður, as it's a listed building. This was once the colonial goods shop Einarsbúð, and now we are opening up between the spaces, just as they did back then.“
Yes, the shop's building has a rich history, dating all the way back to 1907. Strand 49 embraces the spirit of the building; the experience is warm and welcoming, where the old and the new meet beautifully.
„Christmas is the main shopping season and there's a lot going on in Hafnarfjörður. We look forward to welcoming people with a hot drink and a sweet treat while they choose their gifts for their loved ones,“ says Klara.
